-------

Malas are beaded necklaces or bracelets that are used in prayer or meditation. They are traditionally made with 108 beads, plus one larger bead, called a guru bead, or a number divisible of 108. The number 108 is considered sacred in many cultures/practices, including Hinduism, Buddhism, and Sikhism. It is believed to represent the 108 Upanishads, the 108 names of the Buddha, or the 108 energy meridians connected to the heart chakra in the body.

It is said to say a chant or mantra 108 times for the most POWER. Try "I am at peace, all is well." It works fast.

The history of the mala is somewhat murky, but they are believed to have originated in India around the 8th century BCE. Originally they were used by Hindu sadhus, or holy men, to help them focus their minds during meditation. Over time, the use of mala beads spread to other religions, including Buddhism.

Mala beads are typically made from a variety of materials, including wood, seeds, gemstones, and precious metals. The type of material used is often chosen based on its spiritual properties. We love crystals for the best in healing, and accessing higher consciousness.

Malas are great to decorate an altar, or sacred space. Anyone can wear or use them. We hope you cherish your mala for years.
